There's beautiful, thoughtful work to be done within the constraints of a standard font stack.

I just don't think forcing users to download ~150 KB of fonts is sustainable strategy in a mobile-friendly context.
I think we are on the cusp of a back-to-the-land moment in web fonts. Designers rediscovering the speed and consistency of system fonts.

@Bill_Miranda Correct, no regional blackouts. (But you'll need to be a Rogers subscriber for anything not on CBC, of course)
Here's the event floor at Maple Leaf Gardens:

Smaller but interesting: Rogers will handle all Canadian ad sales for NHL.com.
2
That's 130 games airing on Saturday nights, across Rogers properties (Sportsnet, City, FX Canada), TVA and CBC.

Rogers says Hockey Night In Canada broadcasts will now, combined, show three times as many games on Saturday nights as before.

Under the new NHL/CBC/Rogers deal, there will be at least 500 hockey games broadcast this season across all networks.

@lynngr @ivortossell To my ear, "fan(s)" and "fanboy(s)" are not synonymous. The latter implies a subtly more irrational devotion?
@jeffcbeer Agreed, it is an excellent word, and I think it still has many applications.
Anyway. @NiemanLab fangirls and fanboys, roll call on anyone going to the drinks at Bar Wellington this evening? Waffling.
@MacDonaldMaggie Perhaps! But I think being a geek about something is subtly different from being a "fan" of it...
@timfalconer I think "Fanboy" still has a place, but I do like more universal terms if they're in popular usage.
